Doug retired two years ago after 22 years in the legal department of BellSouth Corporation, and much of his focus these days is on his golf game. After receiving his B.A. from W&L, he earned a J.D. from Emory and an M.B.A. from Georgia State University.

He and his wife, Joanne, a Maryland alumna, have two children: Travis, 34, a lawyer with a B.S. degree from Tulane and a J.D. from Ole Miss; and Kevin, 30, an architect who did some of his undergraduate work at W&L and the rest of it at Emory, later earning a master’s from the University of Pennsylvania.

Doug and Joanne live most of the year in Roswell, Ga., on charmingly named Wisteria Circle. They spend June through October at their second home in Trenton, Maine, just outside Bar Harbor (if hamlets in Maine can be thought of as having suburbs).
