Richard E. Juterbock
Rich is a gentleman farmer who cuts wood and makes maple syrup in the winter and grows vegetables in the summer. He can do that because he retired recently from the position of general counsel in the private banking division of J.P. Morgan & Co. in New York. After receiving his law degree from Duke in 1973, he started practicing law with Shearman & Sterling, also in New York.
His wife, Deborah (Debby), also graduated from Duke, and is a pharmaceutical researcher with Novartis. They have two children: Elisabeth, 23, who graduated from W&L with a B.A. in 2006, now working at the law firm of Simpson Thacher & Bartlett in New York; and Caroline, 20, a student at Dickenson College.
In addition to his farm duties, Rich enjoys long-distance bicycle touring.
