Leroy Cole Atkins II

Buddy is now director of donor relations in the W&L development office, after 27 years in the alumni office and later in the dean of students’ office (in charge of fraternities and sororities). He was also acting director of the massive new Elrod Commons, as the new student center is known, for its first year.

He’s married to Evanthia Aretakis Atkins, better known as Evan, a B.A. graduate of Meredith College who today is a realtor and artist. They have two children: Drewry, 36, a 1993 W&L journalism alum who is director of community relations for Fresh Market Stores; and Cole, 33, a 1997 W&L graduate who is a geologist and environmental specialist for Wake Stone Corp. in North Carolina. Drewry has a son, Beck, and Cole has a daughter, Olivia; both grandchildren are two years old.

Buddy is treasurer and a vestryman in the R.E. Lee Memorial Episcopal Church and enjoys golf, tennis, fishing and reading.
